WaPo Hit Piece Refutiated

The Washington Post printed an article that definitively misrepresented Senator McCain's stance on Hamas stating that he had previously supported negotiating with Hamas without conditions. This is false, and there are numerous sources showing that a quote taken out of context was used to misrepresent his position.

Hot Air explains how it happened...

The context here is crystal clear. McCain envisioned a possible change in Hamas from a terrorist group to a legitimate political party, one that recognized Israel and renounced violence. Under those conditions, McCain said that we could engage them in talks designed to establish peace, and only under those conditions. The Bush administration had the same policy at the time. Neither the US nor John McCain supported meeting with Hamas without preconditions, and they certainly didn’t have policy advisers meeting with them while they conducted terrorist attacks and plotted an armed takeover of Gaza.

Arizona Republican State Convention Update!

The Arizona Republican Party State Convention to elect 50 Delegates and 50 Alternate Delegates to the National Convention occurred this past Saturday. The AZMcCain 08' campaign has been actively engaged in insuring that Arizona's delegation to the National Convention is a delegation that Senator John McCain can be proud of. That goal was reached and exceeded on Saturday, when 95 of the 100 people who made up the AZGOP/McCain08' Unity Slate were elected at the state convention. Our Unity Slate was negotiated with the State Party Leadership and the state convention nominating committee to create a true unity slate. The AZGOP/McCain 08' Unity Slate was widely supported at the state convention by the attending 987 state delegates, U.S. Senator Jon Kyl, Representative John Shadegg, Representive Trent Franks and State Party Chairman, Randy Pullen. The Unity Slate was made up of recognized leaders in our party, the AZMcCain 08' campaign, party activists, precinct committeemen, business leaders, religious leaders and elected officials. The AZGOP/McCain 08' Unity Slate also represented the geographic, economic and ethnic make up of Arizona. In addition to our slate, there were four additional competing slates of candidates for the 100 delegate and alternate slots. Yet, with the hard work of more than 50 state convention volunteers, slate whips and runners, the day was a resounding success for Senator John McCain. It is also important to recognize a few of the people who went above and beyond the "call of duty" to make the state convention a success by working diligently for more than six months at district and county Republican meetings and then all the way through to the State Convention. A special debt of gratitude and acknowledgement goes to Mike Hellon, Shiree Verdone, Joe Abate, Marcus Dell'Artino, Bettina Nava, Paul Hickman, Ann Lynch, Jane Lynch, Gary Hays, Donna Reagan , Cheryl Pietkiewicz, Tom Liddy, Travis Junion, Joan Shields, Mike Middleton, Laura French and Lisa Atkins. Vision for America's Judiciary System

In North Carolina on Tuesday, John McCain outlined his judicial philosophy and vision.

As president, John McCain will look for accomplished men and women with proven records of excellence in the law and proven commitments to judicial restraint to serve on the federal bench.

The proper role of the judiciary has become one of the defining issues of this presidential election. The next president will nominate hundreds of qualified judges to the federal courts and the impact of these choices will reach far into the future.

John McCain will bring care, thought and deliberation to the process of selecting his judicial nominees. The nominees will be men and women of experience, wisdom and humility who do their work with impartiality and honor. Defending Freedom & Dignity

John McCain spoke Wednesday at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan about his vision for defending the freedom and dignity of the world's vulnerable. Freedom confers responsibilities, and John McCain believes we must be diligent in supporting human freedom and opposing those enemies who would strip others of their dignity.

As president, John McCain will promote religious freedom, combat human trafficking and protect women and children. These are issues that demand presidential leadership. We must confront the evils in this world that deny human freedom and degrade human dignity.
